Question- Who are the instructors teaching the program?
Answer- The instructors teaching the BEACH KIDS program are the instructors that have been teaching the Junior Lifeguard program for the City of Encinitas for the past 17 years. For more information please go to the section of the web site “MEET THE STAFF.”
Question-Where is the program being held?
Answer- The program will be held at Moonlight Beach. We will be just south of the Main lifeguard tower in the cove. We will have banners visible that specify BEACH KIDS.
Question- Does my child need to take a swim test?
Answer- No. We do not have a swim test for BEACH KIDS. The program is noncompetitive and the emphasis is on building confidence and education.
Question- What does my child bring each day?
Answer- We need them to be wearing their yellow rash guard that we will give them the first day, a beach towel, sunscreen and a small snack or money for the snack bar.
Question- Do the kids need a black suit?
Answer- Each participant needs a solid black bathing suit. The girls need a speedo type suit and the boys can wear either elastic waist or board short type.
Question- Where can we purchase them?

Question- Will my child be running and swimming?
Answer- Yes each day we will do some combination of running and swimming. We will encourage each child to participate in each activity although it is not mandatory.
Question- Does everyone need a rash guard?
Answer- Each participant will receive a bright yellow rash guard with enrollment. Your child will be required to show up each day WEARING the rash guard. This helps us to identify each participant and also provides great sun protection.
Question- What if my child loses the rash guard?
Answer- We will have additional rash guards available for purchase. If your child needs a replacement rash guard we will require you to purchase one for them. It is required that they wear the yellow rash guard daily.
Question- Do you have any sweatshirts?
Answer- Yes we will carry sweatshirts and t-shirts available for purchase the first week.
